Wenger expects Szczesny to miss six weeks
Arsène Wenger expects Wojciech Szczesny to be sidelined for six weeks with the finger injury he suffered against Barcelona.
The Polish goalkeeper lasted just 18 minutes of Tuesday night's 3-1 defeat in the Nou Camp and was replaced by Manuel Almunia, who is set to reclaim the No 1 spot for the forseeable future.
With Lukasz Fabianski ruled out for the rest of the season, Wenger would like to turn to Vito Mannone, who has been on loan at Hull City since October.
In an exclusive interview with Arsenal TV Online, the manager explained why he cannot.
"We need now an experienced goalkeeper as cover for Almunia
because Mannone is out for six weeks so we cannot call on him," said Wenger.
"Mannone is here at the training ground having treatment but he cannot play for the next six weeks. We can call him back [from Hull City] but he is not available.
"
We have Wojciech out, in my opinion for six weeks. We have Fabianski out for the rest of the season. We need absolutely some cover in goal."

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has already identified the goalkeeper he wants to sign on emergency loan.
Wenger revealed he is looking to make an emergency signing of a keeper after Wojciech Szczesny dislocated a finger in the Nou Camp.
“He is out for a while, for how long I can’t tell you,” said Wenger, who already has Lukasz Fabianski out for the season following a shoulder operation.
“We will look for an emergency keeper and I have somebody in mind, but it won’t be in time for this weekend.
“We have not yet asked the Premier League.”
