Marcelo: I would take Pedro over Messi
Real Madrid defender Marcelo has stated that if he could take one player from Barcelona to join his side, it would not be World Player of the Year Lionel Messi, but Pedro.
Pedro has not claimed the headlines that his more senior team-mates have, but has been in fine form alongside Messi and David Villa in Barcelona's three-pronged attack and has bagged 12 goals in 23 starts for the club this season.
Now he has received praise from an unlikely source, as Marcelo chose to single him out for special attention - placing him above the World Player of the Year by omission - despite the fact that they are direct rivals for the La Liga crown.
"If I had the opportunity to take one player from Barcelona to Real, then I would opt for Pedro," Marcelo told AS. "He is considered a striker, but does huge amounts of work further back to help his team. There is not very much talking about Pedro, but in fact he is one of the key players for the Catalans."
