Thierry Henry holds talks with Bordeaux as he assesses options for first step into management 
Thierry Henry is considering taking his first step into full management with Bordeaux among those ready to give him an opportunity. Telegraph Sport understands that there is interest in Henry from Bordeaux, a national association and at least one club in England. Despite holding talks with Bordeaux, the Frenchman is yet to make a firm decision on whether any of the possibilities that may be currently open to him represent the best route into management. Bordeaux sacked Gus Poyet last week after the Uruguayan hit out at the sale of his forward Gaetan Laborde without his knowledge, branding the decision “a disgrace”. Henry’s decision may be complicated by the face Bordeaux are currently in the process of being sold by the M6 Group to the General American Capital Partners investment fund and any appointment would have to be signed off by both the outgoing and incoming owners. Having worked as one of Roberto Martinez’s assistants with Belgium at the World Cup, Henry decided to step down from his role as a Sky Sports pundit to concentrate on becoming a manager.
He was one of the candidates spoken to over the Arsenal job before the appointment of Unai Emery and has been asked to stay on by Belgium.
But it now seems 41-year-old Henry, who was linked with the Aston Villa job during the summer, is close to becoming a full-time manager and potentially joining his former team-mate Patrick Vieira, who is in charge at Nice, in Ligue 1.
