Leicester City sign striker Darius Vassell
Leicester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has signed striker Darius Vassell until the end of next season.
The 30-year-old, who passed a medical on Wednesday, played under Eriksson at Manchester City and was a free agent after leaving Turkish side Ankaragucu.
Eriksson told BBC Radio Leicester: "He will bring pace, experience and he can score goals. He has been at this level and higher for many years.
"He is only 30 and should be able to play for many more years."
Vassell began his career with Aston Villa and signed for City for £2m in the summer of 2005.
The Birmingham-born forward, who was released by Manchester City in 2009, is now available on a free transfer after parting company with Ankaragucu.
Vassell, who is still at least two weeks from being match fit, made 22 appearances for England and scored six goals.
Last week Curtis Davies and Kyle Naughton joined the Foxes on loan and both made their debuts in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Hull City.
