Hammers boss Avram Grant is keen to bolster his attacking options before the start of the season and he has lined up a season-long loan deal for Caicedo.Caicedo has dropped down the pecking order at City and spent spells out on loan at Sporting Lisbon and Malaga last season.
The Ecuador international is thought to be keen on a move to West Ham as he looks to secure regular first-team football.
Manchester City are understood to have given Caicedo permission to travel down to London to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms over a season-long deal at Upton Park.
West Ham are also thought to have the option to sign Caicedo on a permanent basis if he impresses during his loan spell in East London.
If Caicedo agrees a move to West Ham he will become Grant's sixth new signing of the summer as they prepare to face Aston Villa this weekend in their Premier League opener.
