Edinson Cavani has extended his contract with Paris Saint-Germain by a further two years until 2020, the French champions confirmed on Tuesday.Cavani has been consistently linked with a move to the Premier League, with his previous deal coming to an end next year.
He has scored 44 goals in 44 appearances this season and has already helped PSG lift the Coupe de la Ligue, as the Paris club battles for the Ligue 1 title with Monaco, trailing on goal difference.
"I am very happy to extend my contract and my commitment to Paris Saint-Germain," said Cavani.
"As I have always stated, it was always my clear intention to continue playing for Paris, its supporters and all the staff at the club to make it one of the biggest clubs in the world.
"I am convinced that the club has the potential to attain all its objectives. Together, we will be more and more ambitious in the coming seasons."
Cavani, 30, has scored 125 goals in 192 competitive games for PSG, 20 of them in the Champions League - a club record.
The Uruguayan has been pivotal to PSG's success in recent years since joining from Napoli in July 2013.
"This new contract extension reaffirms the huge confidence Edinson Cavani has in our project," said Paris Saint-Germain chairman Nasser Al-Khelaïfi.
"He is quite simply the best striker in the world at the moment. He is one of the elite strikers in Europe.
