Bolton Wanderers have completed the signing of Marcos Alonso from Spanish giants Real Madrid for an undisclosed fee.
The highly-rated 19-year-old has agreed a three-year deal at the Reebok Stadium and becomes the third player to join Owen Coyle's squad this summer following the acquisitions of Martin Petrov and Robbie Blake.
Having progressed through the ranks at the Santiago Bernabeu, Alonso made his first-team debut last season in Los Blancos' 2-0 win over Racing Santander in April.
Born in Madrid, Alonso also hails from a rich footballing background with his grandfather representing Real Madrid in the late 1950s and early 1960s, while his father enjoyed a five-year spell with the La Liga club's major rivals Barcelona in the mid 1980s.
Speaking after securing the signature of the youngster, Wanderers Manager Owen Coyle said: "He is an exciting young player who has undoubted quality and he will bring that into our mix. I think that we have a real talent on our hands.
"I have said before that when we are investing money in transfers that I want to do it with young, talented players. He isn't the finished article yet - he's a young player making his way - but you don't get through at Real Madrid without having a bit about you."
Alonso, who is a natural left-sided defender, will add competition to Paul Robinson and Jlloyd Samuel at left-back.
