Poland ace wants Anfield move over Napoli



Liverpool have launched a £9.5million bid for Piotr Zielinski and are hopeful that the magnetic pull of Jurgen Klopp will be enough to convince the Polish international midfielder to come to Anfield.

The Udinese man has been a long-time Reds target and having firmed up their interest with a 12 million Euros concrete offer over the weekend with Klopp believed to have spoken to the player personally over the telephone to reassure him that he would be a major part of his future plans.

Zielinski has spent the past two seasons out on loan at Empoli and the Guardian report that Napoli are keen to keep him in Serie A having made an £8.7million bid plus add-ons with their president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, saying: “Liverpool have made a bid for him and Zielinski wants to join them but we are trying to convince the player to join us, because we have an agreement with Udinese.”

However, the chances of a U-turn appear slim as the ECHO understands that Zielinski has turned down a switch to Naples and is not interested in a move there.

This, combined with the Reds willingness to meet the 22-year-old’s asking price appears to have put them in the box seat to seal a deal.

Only last month, Zielinski was pictured wearing a Liverpool shirt with his name on it and is believed to have set his heart on a move to Anfield.

The playmaker has 13 caps for Poland and could feature in their opening Euro 2016 game against Northern Ireland in Nice on Sunday evening.

Poland international Piotr Zielinski favours a move to Liverpool over Napoli, according to the Italian club's president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
Liverpool have launched a £9.5million bid for Zielinski and are now the clear frontrunners to finalise a deal for the 22-year-old midfielder.
Napoli have also submitted a bid - thought to be £8.7million - but the Udinese midfielder favours a move to the Premier League.

De Laurentiis said of Liverpool's interest in the Napoli target: 'Liverpool have made a bid for him and Zielinski wants to join them, but we are trying to convince the player to join us, because we have an agreement with Udinese.'
Zielinski played under current Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri during his loan spell at Empoli but their close relationship may not be enough to entice him to Stadio San Paolo.
The playmaker made 35 Serie A appearances for Udinese last season, scoring five goals and claiming four assists in the league.
He was an unused substitute for Poland's 1-0 win over Northern Ireland.

Reds midfield target must wait until end of Euros

Liverpool will have to wait until Poland’s Euro 2016 campaign is over before they can wrap up a deal for Piotr Zielinski.

Reports in Italy suggested that the Reds had agreed a fee of £12million with Udinese for the centre midfielder but the ECHO understands there is currently no agreement in place.

Zielinski has made it clear he wants to focus on his international commitments rather than sorting out his club future. Poland face Switzerland in the last 16 of the Euros this Saturday.

Liverpool tabled an offer of £9.5million earlier this month with the Serie A outfit holding out for around £15million.

A compromise is expected with sources close to the player saying he’s excited about the prospect of working with Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.

Napoli have also been looking to secure his signature but Zielinski favours a move to Liverpool.

Zielinski, who joined Udinese in 2011 from Zaglebie Lubin in his homeland, has spent the past two seasons on loan at Empoli.

The 22-year-old scored five goals and provided four assists in 36 appearances last season.

Zielinski has played most of his football as a central midfielder but he can also perform out wide or in the No 10 role.
