Santi Cazorla almost lost his foot to infection but is now targeting return for Arsenal in early 2018
SANTI Cazorla hasn’t played for Arsenal for more than a year, but the Spaniard can consider himself lucky if he ever plays again.
The 32-year-old revealed he almost had his foot amputated after picking up an infection following eight operations in his bid to recover from injury.
The Gunners midfielder injured his Achilles at the beginning of last season and has spent most of his time in Spain trying to recover.
Skin had to be taken from his arm to cover the wound, which featured a tattoo.
Doctors have told Cazorla he is lucky to be walking, but Cazorla is eyeing a remarkable comeback at the start of 2018.
Arsene Wenger said recently: “The first signs are positive, but still he has not played for one and a half years.”
“He is not in full training yet, he needs a few games with the reserve team. So I think if all goes well, it will be after Christmas.”
