Jamie Vardy has reassured Roy Hodgson he is fully focused on England - even though he has delayed a decision on his future until after the Euros .

England boss Hodgson has held crunch talks with Vardy after Arsenal launched a £20m bid for the Leicester striker to leave his future uncertain.

Hodgson was clearly worried whether it would affect Vardy ahead of England’s opener with Russia on Saturday but the 29-year-old insisted it will not be a distraction.

It comes as Vardy’s representatives also told Arsenal they will have to wait until after the European Championships before deciding on his future so he can focus on England.

Arsenal must now decide to pursue Vardy or look at different targets as their chances appear to be fading despite triggering his buy-out clause and offering him £120,000-a-week in a four year deal.

Leicester have come back with a counter offer worth £100,000-a-week and are hopeful that he will stay at the King Power Stadium.

But Vardy has also told Leicester that he wants time to consider his future even though his club team mates have been ringing and texting him to plead with him to stay.

Vardy is sweating on his place for England in their opener with Russia in Marseille on Saturday and he fears any doubts lingering over his future could dissuade Hodgson from picking him.

But Vardy hopes postponing a decision on his future and also clear-the-air talks with Hodgson will boost his chances of starting this weekend.

Earlier today, Vardy trained with the squad as they prepare for their opening clash against Russia in Marseille on Saturday.

Ryan Bertrand trained alone away from his teammates as the only member of Hodgson's squad not fully fit.
