Everton eyeing move for Michael Carrick with his Manchester United future unclear- Manchester United's Michael Carrick is a summer target for Everton
- Roberto Martinez is known to be an admirer of the experienced midfielder
- Carrick's contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of the season
Everton have joined the list of clubs hoping to sign Michael Carrick this summer if he fails to sign a new contract with Manchester United. The England international is the subject of interest from clubs in Europe but Everton manager Roberto Martinez is an admirer of Carrick and would want to speak to him about his plans if he fails to extend his 10-year stay at Old Trafford.
Carrick revealed last month that United have not approached him over a new deal and there is no sign of talks opening at any time soon. The 34-year-old has seen his game time limited at times this season and has failed to hold down a regular spot in Louis van Gaal's ever-changing side.
United have been proactive with older players in the past, tying stars down to one-year extensions in a bid to keep experienced heads inside the dressing room.
But Everton may see him as a potential replacement for Gareth Barry, whose contract runs out at the end of the next season.
The former England international has been an ever-present since joining the club but it's unclear if the club plan on extending his stay at Goodison Park.
