COSTA SITUATION 'CLEAR IN JANUARY'

Antonio Conte says that Diego Costa’s situation at Chelsea was ‘very clear’ for both the club and the player in January.

The 28-year-old has not travelled with the Blues squad for their pre-season tour of Asia and is reported to be keen on a return to Atletico Madrid.

"I don't to like to talk about players that don't stay here, but the only thing I can tell you (is) in January, the Costa situation was very clear, for the club, for him and his agent," the Chelsea boss said. "For me the situation is closed."

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte says Diego Costa was told in January he was not part of their plans for the future.

Costa was dropped after a dispute with a fitness coach, amid rumours of a move to China, although Conte said he was "very happy to play" when recalled.

In June, Costa said Conte sent him a text telling him he would not be part of the squad for next season.

"In January, the Costa situation was very clear for the club, for him and his agent," said Conte.

Speaking in Beijing on Friday, the manager added: "I don't to like to talk about players that don't stay here - for me the situation is closed."

Aubameyang had been linked with a move away from Dortmund this summer with the likes of Chelsea and AC Milan, as well as China, all touted as his next possible destination.
However, it appears that the window of opportunity for the 28-year-old leave during this window has passed with Dortmund planning for the upcoming season with their striker.

COSTA MOVE ON HOLD?

Atletico Madrid’s transfer embargo has put Diego Costa’s proposed Chelsea exit on hold, according to Marca.

Atleti cannot register players until January and are understood to be in no rush to complete the move, with reports claiming they are willing to wait until Deadline Day.

Costa is not prepared to sit and wait in London though, with Marca claiming he could instruct his agent, Jorge Mendes, to find him alternative club.

Milan hasn't stop looking for a striker. Fassone and Mirabelli are still interested in Diego Costa, talking with his agent Jorge Mendes but also with Chelsea.
Atlético Madrid, who will be able to make moves again in next January, is still confident the player could sign with them but Milan want to give a try because Chelsea wouldn't like Costa's position ("If I'm not going to Madrid I won't play").
The Blues would then prefer sell him to Milan rather than to Atlético. The contacts with Mendes are then pursued from a week.

Aubameyang is still a hot name too, waiting for new contacts with Borussia Dortmund and his agent who's the player's father. But not only him as Kalinic is too: Ramadani, an intermediary for the club, has arrived in Milan today but there hasn't been any news to that story yet.

SIMEONE HINTS AT COSTA RETURN

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has hinted at a possible return to the club for Chelsea striker Diego Costa.

The Spain international has been told by Blues boss Antonio Conte that he is not part of his plans for the coming season, with the 28-year-old linked to Atletico and AC Milan.

Simeone's side are currently serving a transfer ban which runs until January but speaking ahead of the pre-season Audi Cup tournament in Germany, the Atletico boss referenced a possible Costa move in the new year before appearing to backtrack slightly.

"All the players want to stay, they want to achieve even better goals and get even better," he said. "Diego Costa? If he comes in January... we can't say anything about that yet. I won't speak about him now. He is a player of Chelsea. We will talk about the boys who are here now, because we have a late start to the season. That is what is important."
