A host of first team players took part but were unable to avoid defeat as the losses continue to rack up for the Villans
Things went from bad to worse for Aston Villa boss Remi Garde as he watched his first team players lose 3-0 to the club's U21 side. Brad Guzan, Alan Hutton, Ciaran Clark, Kieran Richardson, Ashley Westwood, Jordan Veretout, Idrissa Gueye, Leandro Bacuna and Scott Sinclair all featured but couldn't avoid defeat at their Bodymoor Heath training ground last Friday, reports Sky Sports. Garde gave his players two days off in the run up to the game with his side not featuring in the FA Cup action over the week, but even that didn't have the desired effect as the gloom continues.
Villa have won just three Premier League games all season and sit rock bottom of the table, eight points from safety with just 12 games left.
