Center Marc Gasol, Grizzlies agree to four-year deal

It was gigantic news delivered on Twitter directly from the big fella at about 7:30 p.m. Monday: Marc Gasol, the Grizzlies center floating in restricted free agency, announced that he had reached an agreement to rejoin the team.

Just like during last season’s playoff run, Memphis could believe.

Gasol, 26, accepted a four-year deal worth $57.7 million — the maximum the Grizzlies could offer. He’ll be paid a starting salary of $12.9 million with a 7.5 percent raise in each year of the deal. The contract is conventional, meaning there are no player or team options.

“I’m proud to say that we have reached a tentative agreement with my team @memgrizz,” Gasol wrote on Twitter. “Can’t wait to get on the court with all my teammates!”

The 7-footer missed the Grizzlies’ first four days of training camp but is expected in town today for a physical and news conference. He should be available to participate in practice by Wednesday.

Clippers match Warriors’ offer for DeAndre Jordan

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP)—The Los Angeles Clippers have matched Golden State’s four-year, $42.7 million offer for center DeAndre Jordan.

The teams announced the move Monday.

Golden State signed Jordan to the offer sheet Sunday. As a restricted free agent, the Clippers had three days to decide whether to match the contract.

The 6-foot-11 Jordan has emerged as an athletic and promising young center in three years in Los Angeles. He averaged 7.1 points and 7.2 rebounds in 25 minutes per game last season.

The Warriors also unsuccessfully pursued former Dallas center Tyson Chandler, watching him go to the New York Knicks.

Golden State hosts the Clippers in the regular-season opener Dec. 25.
