Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo fired Real Madrid into the FIFA Club World Cup final with a 2-0 victory over Club America in Yokohama. Benzema's ninth goal of the season set the European champions on their way before Ronaldo sealed the victory in added time. Real will now face surprise finalists and local favourites Kashima Antlers in Sunday's final as they look to secure their second world crown in three seasons. With Ronaldo firing blanks until the last kick of the game, Benzema broke the deadlock in first-half stoppage time, finishing clinically with the outside of his right boot after a cute pass from Toni Kroos.
Ronaldo, fresh from winning his fourth Ballon d'Or this week, had already squandered a gilt-edged chance by heading against the post.
The Portugal international had two fierce shots saved by America goalkeeper Moises Munoz but finally found the net deep into injury time, slotting home after being played through on goal.
The result means Real have extended their club-record unbeaten run to 36 matches in all competitions - the perfect dress rehearsal as they look to seal a third major honour of 2016.
