Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Jack Wilshere is due to return from an ankle injury in two weeks.
Wilshere, 23, suffered a hairline fracture to his right ankle in training on 1 August and it was thought he could miss up to two months.
But Wenger said the England midfielder's expected recovery time was four weeks and he is "on schedule".
Meanwhile, Wilshere's team-mate Tomas Rosicky has had knee surgery and will be out for over two months.
Speaking before Arsenal's visit to Crystal Palace on Sunday, Wenger said: "We said Jack would be out for four weeks, and he's in the second week now so he's on schedule."
Midfielder Rosicky, 34, was injured while playing for Czech Republic against Iceland in a Euro 2016 qualifier in June.
Wenger added: "Tomas has had surgery on his knee. His agent said he will be out for one or two months, but it will be longer. How long exactly, we don't know yet."

Jack Wilshere: Arsenal midfielder requires surgery on broken leg

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere requires surgery on a hairline fracture of his left leg and is expected to be out for three months.
The 23-year-old broke a fibula in August but was expected to return to training following September's international break.
However, the club has said he needs to have a plate inserted in his leg.
"Jack's scans show that the healing process is not progressing as well as expected," a club statement read.
"He is likely to be out for approximately three months."
The 23-year-old underwent two operations last season after injuring his left ankle against Manchester United in November 2014.
He returned to play in Arsenal's FA Cup final win over Aston Villa in May.
Wilshere also featured in England's June internationals, netting twice in the 3-2 European Championship qualifier victory over Slovenia.
His career has been plagued with ankle problems since he first sustained a stress fracture during pre-season in 2011, which left him sidelined for 15 months.
