Sky sources report that Fiorentina are in talks with Liverpool over the possible signing of forward Fabio Borini.

And the Italian side are discussing a permanent deal for the 24-year-old rather than a loan signing.

Borini arrived at Anfield from Roma for just over £10m in the summer of 2012 but he has struggled to nail down a regular place in the starting line-up.

And he spent the 2013/14 campaign on loan with Sunderland, scoring in the Capital One Cup final loss to Manchester City, and also netting some key goals towards the end of season as the Black Cats beat the drop.

However, he turned down the chance to join Sunderland permanently last summer and remained at Liverpool, making 18 appearances in all competitions and scoring just one goal.

BORINI 'DEAL AGREED'

Fiorentina have agreed a fee with Liverpool for the transfer of Fabio Borini, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian has struggled to impress at Anfield since joining them in 2012 and has fallen down the pecking order this summer with the arrivals of Christian Benteke and Danny Ings.

It is reported that Fiorentina will sign Borini initially on loan for the season then make the deal permanent for around £4m next summer.

Fabio Borini has accepted his Liverpool FC career is over with a return to Serie A edging closer.

Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade has confirmed their interest in the 24-year-old striker, who is surplus to requirements at Anfield.

There has been discussions between the clubs over a potential move but no deal is yet in place. Reports in Italy suggest that both Lazio and Inter Milan are also interested.

Fiorentina are in need of more firepower following the departure of Mario Gomez to Besiktas and they are chasing both Borini and Dnipro striker Nikola Kalinic.

“We’re conducting negotiations with Dnipro,” Prade said.

“There are several negotiations in progress, all with the consultation of coach (Paulo) Sousa.

“Fabio Borini? He’s one of many possible solutions. The priority is to buy a striker.”

Liverpool are looking to recoup around £8million for Borini, who cost £10.5million from Roma in the summer of 2012. He still has two years of his existing contract to run,

Borini’s agent told Liverpool’s hierarchy last month to expect a bid from West Ham but no such offer has been forthcoming.

The former Chelsea striker was the first signing of Brendan Rodgers’ reign but he has struggled to make an impact at Anfield.

His first season with the Reds was hampered by injuries as he broke his foot and then dislocated his shoulder. Having scored just twice in 20 appearances, he was down the pecking order and was sent on loan to Sunderland for the 2013/14 campaign.

Borini scored 10 goals as the Black Cats retained their Premier League status and reached the League Cup final. Last summer Sunderland agreed a £14million deal to make his stay in the North East permanent but Borini rejected the move.

Rodgers publicly stated that Borini should leave Liverpool in search of first-team football but that advice was ignored. Borini held talks with Queens Park Rangers on deadline day after they offered to pay the Reds £10million up front with a further £3million in add-ons but he couldn’t agree personal terms.

Having opted to stay put, Borini was restricted to just five starts in all competitions last season with his only goal coming at Villa Park in January.

SUNDERLAND IN BORINI TALKS

Sunderland are in talks to sign Fabio Borini from Liverpool on season-long loan, according to Sky sources.

We understand Borini has been told he has no future at Liverpool and now could be set to move to the Stadium of Light even though he turned down a permanent move there last summer.

Now to the latest on Fabio Borini's future at Liverpool.

This is our latest information - We're told enquiries have been made by Sunderland and Fiorentina, while Inter Milan are also interested.

However, there's been nothing more concrete and no formal offers at this stage.

BORINI RUMOURS 'PREMATURE'

Liverpool striker Fabio Borini is not close to securing a move to Inter Milan, according to Sky sources.

While it is thought Borini would prefer to move to Inter, we understand Liverpool are yet to receive an approach from the Italian club.

To date only Sunderland and Fiorentina have made contact about taking the player.

Inter, first offer to Liverpool for Borini: the situation

After closing the business for Perisic, Inter now looks to complete its forward line and the name at the top of the list is Fabio Borini of Liverpool.
Today the Nerazzurri submitted their first bid to the English club reported to be around ?6 million plus ?2 million bonus.
The Milan giants are also waiting for news from Sampdoria after negotiations regarding striker Eder.
Borini could be the ideal back-up should the Italian-Brazilian remain at the port city.

Sunderland is making a late attempt to sign Borini.
With the window almost closed, Sunderland offered Liverpool £8 million plus two million in bonuses- the clubs are having on going talks to complete the deal.
Inter has been linked to Borini, but they're prioritizing Eder.
Now it will be up to Sampdoria to decide if they'll accept the proposal. Should the answer be negative,
Inter could make a new offer for Borini, or another attempt for Gabbiadini, a profile that Mancini is intrigued by.
But it would be a difficult deal to pull off with Napoli with just one day left in transfer window.
