Alvaro Morata on verge of completing Chelsea move

Chelsea are close to clinching the signing of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata in what would be a major boost on the back of Antonio Conte’s new contract.

Although there has been no confirmation from Chelsea or Real, sources in Madrid have told Telegraph Sport that a deal to take Morata to Stamford Bridge is “done.”

It is believed Chelsea will have to pay around £75million to land Morata, who emerged as the club’s top choice after missing out on Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United.

Chelsea had been leaving their options open following their failure to land Lukaku and held talks with a number of clubs and agents regarding Morata, Andrea Belotti and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

But it appears the Premier League champions are now focussing their efforts on securing the signature of Morata after making a breakthrough in negotiations with Real.

Morata travelled with Real for their US tour and it now remains to be seen whether he breaks away from that to discuss personal terms with Chelsea.

The 24-year-old has been keen on the prospect of working with Conte at Chelsea since the Blues tried to sign him last summer.

He had agreed to join United, but they instead hijacked Chelsea’s interest in Lukaku which left Morata in limbo.

The arrival of Morata would be welcomed by several members of the Chelsea squad, who have become concerned at the precarious situation the club find themselves in.

Chelsea announced that head coach Conte had been rewarded for his fine first season with a pay rise, which underlined the commitment that the Italian will start this campaign in charge.

But there remains no long-term guarantees over Conte’s future, which has prompted speculation among the players that he might only be in charge for a further 12 months at most.

There was also some dismay that Chelsea left for their pre-season tour of China and Singapore without any significant new signings in the squad and Diego Costa and Nemanja Matic left behind.

Defender Antonio Rudiger could meet up with the Chelsea squad in Singapore after his holiday, but midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko will continue his recover from injury at the club’s Cobham training ground.

Clinching the signature of Morata would certainly improve the mood within the squad and among Chelsea’s fans.

Milan agrees personal terms with Morata: Belotti is still the alternative



The new Milan is continuing to take form. After Musacchio and Kessie, Milan is considering their options in attack.
In particular, Alvaro Morata: the club is putting forth a large effort to acquire the Spanish forward. Fassone and Mirabelli will be present at the final in Cardiff with the player's agent, Juanma Lopez.
However, Milan officials have already passed some hurdles: the player has said 'yes' to Milan (he prefers a return to Italy), and there is an economic agreement (slightly over 8 million per season for 5 years).
Now Milan must find an agreement with Real Madrid.
Milan will move after the Champions League final, and the following week will be decisive.
The sensations are positive, and only the emergence of new competition from a big club offering more would pose a threat.

At the same time, Milan is thinking about plan B in the form of Il Gallo Belotti. Milan is ready to offer 70 million plus 10 million in bonuses and some players (in order to reduce the cost), given that Cairo only foresees a sale if his buyout clause of 100 million is activated.
It is to bee seen whether Torino would lower their request. Milan is preparing for a big signing in attack for next season.

Real Madrid have rejected a £52.4m (?60m) offer for striker Alvaro Morata from Manchester United, Sky in Italy understand.

United goalkeeper David de Gea was not included in the offer, while Real Madrid are thought to want in the region of £78m for the forward.

The Spain international scored 20 goals in all competitions for Real last season, as the club clinched La Liga and the Champions League.

If Manchester United fail to agree a deal for Morata, it is understood they will try to sign Andrea Belotti from Torino, who has a ?100m (£87.3m) release clause in his contract.

Born in Madrid, Morata progressed through the Real Madrid academy to make his first team debut in December 2010, before exiting for Juventus in the summer of 2014 for £17.5m.

In two seasons with Juventus, Morata won two Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia titles and was part of a run to the 2015 Champions League final, scoring as Juve lost 3-1 to Barcelona.

In June 2016, Real Madrid exercised a buy-back clause to bring Morata back from Juventus for £26.2m, and the forward has emerged as a key member of Zinedine Zidane's squad.

Mourinho's looking for a forward. Manchester United has focused its attention on Real Madrid and more precisely on Alvaro Morata. The first offer the Red Devils made was about 60 million euros but has been refused by the Blancos who want 90 million euros for the player. He was also linked to Milan but that option tends to be less likely to happen. If Manchester United couldn't make a deal for Morata, they would go for Andrea Belotti and are ready to offer £70 million to Torino.
