Dani Alves set to join PSG after turning down Manchester City• 34-year-old Brazilian has agreed two-year deal with French side

Dani Alves is set to join Paris St-Germain and is expected to be unveiled on Wednesday. Manchester City had been keen to sign the Brazilian, who played for Pep Guardiola at Barcelona, and the manager will be dismayed to miss out.The 34-year-old had agreed a contract in principle with City but was in the end persuaded to join the Ligue 1 side, where he is set to put pen to paper to a two-year deal. It is understood that PSG offered the Brazilian more in wages.Guardiola needs to strengthen at full-back after letting Pablo Zabaleta, Gaël Clichy and Bacary Sagna go after last season. Guardiola had earmarked Alves as the main priority because of his experience and what he would bring to the dressing room.
City will now have to consider going back to Tottenham Hotspur to see whether they can reach a deal to sign Kyle Walker. The London club are holding out for £50m for the England full-back.Guardiola has already added Monaco’s attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva (£43.6m) and the Benfica goalkeeper Ederson (£34.9m) to his squad for next season.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are stepping up their attempts to secure the Real Madrid right-back, Danilo, as Antonio Conte seeks to bolster his defensive ranks. The Premier League champions retain an interest in the Juventus wing-back, Alex Sandro, but are keen to add competition for places on the opposite flank, with Danilo their main target for that position.
