Roma turns down Liverpool's bid for Salah: the situation



Liverpool is once again pursuing Mohamed Salah. The Reds were the runners up to Chelsea a few years ago, and are now looking to bring the Egyptian winger back to the Premier League.
As reported by David Amoyal, Roma has however rejected their bid.
Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that Liverpool offered ?32/34 million, a sum considered to be too low by the giallorossi.
Liverpool is shopping in Serie A, Salah is once again on their wish list.

Roma want Liverpool to pay up to £40m for Salah. Roma paid £13m for him last summer (after loan). Salah chose Chelsea over Liverpool in 2014

Liverpool are locked in talks with Roma for Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian winger was one of a number of attacking options under consideration by Jurgen Klopp this summer, as he seeks to bolster his squad in the wide areas.

The 24-year-old has now emerged as one of the club's top targets, and the ECHO understands negotiations are ongoing between the two clubs with the Reds keen to land their man.

The forward's agent, Ramy Abbas, flew to England on Tuesday – although it is unknown whether it was connected to the deal.

Salah - who turned down a move to Anfield in 2014, opting to join Chelsea instead – would likely cause the club to break their current transfer record of £35million for Andy Carroll.

That ceiling could be smashed a number of times over the next few months, with prime targets Virgil van Dijk and Naby Keita both valued at £50million at least.

The Reds have been encouraged by initial soundings from van Dijk's camp, and are willing to pay big in order to bring him to Anfield, as well as making him one of the club's top earners.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is close to landing his first big name signing of the summer with reports in La Gazzetta dello Sport and The Times (via The Sun) stating that the Merseyside giants have agreed a deal with Roma forward Mohamed Salah.

The 24-year-old has had an exceptional couple of seasons in the Italian capital after joining the Giallorossi on a permanent deal from Chelsea last summer for just £13M. With the Italian side battling to balance the books due to the Financial Fair-Play restrictions imposed on them by FIFA, the club’s power brokers are aware they will have to offload some of their best talent.

Despite this and the fact that they have agreed personal terms with the player, Roma are understood to be holding out for the £35M that they believe Salah is now worth; Liverpool have already submitted a £28M offer which has been rejected.

Salah netted 15 times last season and Klopp is believed to be impressed with the Egyptian’s performances believing he can make the player an even deadlier force back in the Premier League.
