Darren Fletcher is to join Stoke City on a two-year deal. The 33-year-old has failed to agree terms on a new contract at the Hawthorns and is now poised to link up with Mark Hughes at the Britannia Stadium. The move represents a major coup for Stoke as Fletcher has been hugely influential for Tony Pulis. His loss will be felt hard by the Albion manager who will be disappointed that the club have not been able to agree a new contract with the Scotland international.
Pulis has been talking to the club's Chinese owners to gain a competitive budget but did not want to lose Fletcher in the process.
Fletcher chose Albion after 12 years at Manchester United and has been key to the club attracting other players.
He had offers from Spain and the MLS but is keen to link up with Hughes who he knows well.
