Arsenal have signed teenage midfielder Krystian Bielik from Legia Warsaw for a reported £2.4m.

Bielik, 17, who underwent his medical at Arsenal last week, signed for Legia from their Polish rivals Lech Poznan last July and has made six appearances in all competitions this season.

Arsenal say the deal "is subject to the completion of regulatory processes".

Bielik, who has appeared for Poland's U16s side, can play in both a holding midfield role and at centre-back.

Arsenal have had a second bid rejected by Legia Warsaw for 17-year-old Krystian Bielik.

The midfielder is highly rated by manager Arsene Wenger and the north Londoners had an opening £1.6 million offer rejected.

Arsenal have kept up their interest in the player but a second bid has gone the same way as the first with the Polish club looking to protect one of their most valuable assets.

Sky Sources understand that talks are still ongoing between the clubs with Legia Warsaw holding out for a bid of £2.3m from Arsenal.

Legia Warsaw purchased Bielik from Lech Poznan for £9,500 last July, tying him down to a contract until 2017.

The youngster has already broken into the first team after impressing in the youth set-up, making six appearances for the club, including a brief cameo in Warsaw’s 2-0 win over Trabzonspor in the Europa League.

Wenger has a history of successfully negotiating deals with Legia Warsaw having signed a 16-year-old Wojciech Szczesny from the Polish club in 2006.

Transfer news: Arsenal set to complete signing of Polish youngster Krystian Bielik

Arsenal are expected to complete the signing of Legia Warsaw youngster Krystian Bielik in the coming days, according to Sky sources.

Gunners representatives are believed to have flown out to Poland on Wednesday to complete the deal, believed to be in the region of £2million.

Sky Sports News HQ reported on January 6 that the North London club failed with a £1.6m offer for the defensive midfielder, but Arsenal returned with a second bid this week.

And Bielik, a 17-year-old Poland youth international, could complete the transfer before Arsenal’s game at Manchester City on Sunday, which is live on Sky Sports 1HD.

Warsaw’s manager, the former Manchester United defender Henning Berg, told Sky Sports News HQ that Bielik "does not have any weaknesses".

He said: “He’s a physical player with good skills. He has very good understanding of the game and match mentality. Krystian is quite far ahead of other players at his age.”

Berg has signed a new three-year-deal following the club’s return from their winter break, having been the subject of interest from an unnamed Bundesliga club.

The Norwegian, who has long-term interest in managing in England following a brief spell in charge of Blackburn in 2012, led Warsaw to the Polish Championship last season and his side are currently three points clear at top of the Ekstraklasa.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says a fee, reported to be around £2.4m, has been agreed to sign Legia Warsaw teenage midfielder Krystian Bielik.

The 17-year-old will have a medical at the club on Friday.

Bielik, who has played for his country's Under-16s side, signed for Legia from their Polish rivals Lech Poznan last July.
