Wolves have made an offer for Barcelona right-back Nelson Semedo.

Talks between the two clubs are continuing but Barcelona are willing to part with the Portugal international, meaning it will be down to the player to decide if he wants to join Wolves.

Semedo is represented by Gestifute, the agency run by Jorge Mendes, who plays a key part in many Wolves deals.

Wolves are close to signing the Barcelona defender Nélson Semedo, having made a bid of ?38m (£34.8m) for the Portugal international.

The Wolves manager, Nuno Espírito Santo, sees the 26-year-old as the perfect replacement for Matt Doherty, who joined Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the summer. Wolves have also sold Diogo Jota to Liverpool for £41m.

The new Barcelona manager, Ronald Koeman, is trying to overhaul his squad after a traumatic summer in which Lionel Messi said he wanted to leave but in the end stayed to avoid ‘a legal dispute’ with the club he has been with since 2001. It is believed that Barcelona are holding out for ?40m for Semedo but there is confidence on all sides that a deal can be struck.

Semedo completes Wolves move

Wolves have completed the signing of Portugal international Nelson Semedo from FC Barcelona.
The right wing-back has penned a deal that will keep him at Molineux until June 2023, with an option to extend it to June 2025.

The 26-year-old arrives with ten major honours to his name and three seasons at the Nou Camp, where he’s impressed in La Liga and the Champions League.

Semedo, who has played 13 times for his country alongside a number of his new Wolves teammates, now becomes an immediate option to Nuno Espirito Santo on the right-hand side.

On the acquisition, Jeff Shi said: “‘Progressive at heart’ is one of our core values at Wolves. For a member of staff, for a player, for the whole club, we are all making great efforts to progress continuously.
