Alan Pardew on the brink of taking over at Crystal Palace - latest

Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are understood to have opened talks about a compensation package for Alan Pardew.

However, it is believed that the two clubs have NOT come to an agreement over a deal that would release him from his current contract.

Pardew has five more years left to run on his contract and is wanted by the Eagles in the Selhurst Park hotseat but Newcastle sources have played down talk that it is a done deal – at this stage.

However, given that Palace have made their move for Pardew his time at St James’ Park looks to be coming to an end.
