Daley Blind: Manchester United midfielder suffers knee injury



Manchester United midfielder Daley Blind will have a knee scan on Monday after suffering a suspected medial ligament injury while playing for the Netherlands.

The 24-year-old limped off 20 minutes into the 6-0 victory over Latvia.

He has played eight times for United since his £13.8m summer move from Ajax.

Netherlands boss Guus Hiddink said: "I'm rather negative. I think it's a medial ligament that is twisted. It might be a rupture."

Blind said on Instagram:  "I'm proud of my 25 games for the Dutch national team, but I'm so gutted with my injury...

I'll stay positive and will come back stronger! Nevertheless a great win, 6-0!"

He is the second United player to be injured during the international break, with goalkeeper David De Gea dislocating a finger during a training session with Spain on Friday.

England's Michael Carrick out of Slovenia Euro 2016 qualifier

England midfielder Michael Carrick will miss Saturday's Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovenia with a groin injury.

Carrick, who last played for England in a World Cup qualifier against Poland last year, picked up the "minor groin injury" in training.

An FA spokesman said Carrick, 33, would return to his club and there would be "no call-ups at this time".

The Manchester United player will also miss the friendly with Scotland three days later.

Carrick, who was left out by England manager Roy Hodgson for the tournament in Brazil, had a scan after a 20-minute session at St George's Park on Wednesday.

Following the results, the decision was taken to withdraw him.

Carrick, who has 31 caps, only made his first start of the season for United in their 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday, two weeks after recovering from an ankle injury he suffered in pre-season.

He joins Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal's growing injury list which includes defenders Marcos Rojo, Rafael da Silva, Phil Jones and Jonny Evans, plus striker Radamel Falcao.

Daley Blind: Confusion over Man Utd midfielder's knee injury

Manchester United are still waiting to learn just how long Daley Blind will be sidelined with a knee injury.

The club tweeted the Dutchman could be out for up to six months only for United manager Louis van Gaal to suggest it might not be a long lay-off.

Blind, 24, was injured in Holland's 6-0 win over Latvia on Saturday.

"He has a brace on his knee," said Van Gaal on Thursday. "After 10 days' rest, he'll have another scan that will say more about the injury."

United have deleted the tweet suggesting Blind was out for six months.

"It's not as bad as the doctors thought after the match, but it shall be a long story, I believe, not six months or something," said Van Gaal.

Midfielder Blind has played eight times for United since his £13.8m summer move from Ajax.

曼聯官方原本透露，膝傷的戴利白蘭特要長休六個月，不過領隊雲高爾及後澄清，白蘭特的傷勢並沒預期般嚴重，但肯定無法在明晚作客阿仙奴的英超聯賽事披甲。戴利白蘭特是於周日荷蘭大勝拉脫維亞6:0的歐洲國家盃外圍賽中受傷，由於曼聯在官方twitter表示他可能要養傷達六個月，多家英國傳媒亦作出了相關的報道，然而，雲帥澄清說︰「白蘭特會休息十天，之後會再進行掃瞄檢查。他的傷並不如醫生最初想的那樣嚴重，我相信仍然需要養傷一段時間，但不會是六個月那麼久。」
