Jordan Rhodes: Hull City bid for Blackburn Rovers striker



Hull have made an offer for Blackburn striker Jordan Rhodes, Rovers boss Gary Bowyer has told BBC Radio Lancashire.
Blackburn's owners are considering the bid for the 24-year-old Scotland international, who signed a new long-term contract at Ewood Park in July.
Rovers paid Huddersfield a club-record fee of £8m for Rhodes in 2012 and he has since scored 53 goals in 99 games.
Bowyer said: "There has been an enquiry which has been taken to the board and the owners. That's as much as I know."
Premier League side Hull want to sign a striker and have money available after selling Shane Long to Southampton.
Saints paid £12m for the Republic of Ireland international and Tigers manager Steve Bruce has said he plans to re-invest that money back into his playing squad.

We have recently received two official bids for the services of Jordan Rhodes from Hull City FC, both have been respectfully and categorically rejected.
The owners of Blackburn Rovers wish to reassure fans that their intention is not to sell Jordan Rhodes as they, along with the manager and board of directors, feel that he is integral to our bid to gain promotion back to the Premier League.

Despite the necessity to comply with and address the pending restrictions of FFP regulations, the owners feel it would be a detrimental step to lose our top goalscorer and such an icon of this football club.

We made our intentions clear this summer when we rewarded Jordan with a new and improved contract and we stand by that.

We want to give Gary Bowyer and the team the best possible opportunity to get back to the top flight and Jordan has been and remains a significant part of that aim.

It is also important to acknowledge that Jordan has acted, unsurprisingly, in a totally professional manner during this period of speculation.

the Tigers have had two bids rejected for Blackburn striker Jordan Rhodes and Bruce says they are "further away than ever" from agreeing a deal.
The 56-year-old said: "Michael Dawson we hope we can get. There's a deal in place in principle anyway. Hopefully, touch wood we'll see what develops.
"I thought I had Jordan Rhodes 24 hours ago and it seems to be further away than ever. We've been negotiating for a week."
Hull sold Irish striker Shane Long to Southampton for £12m earlier this month and are in the market for a replacement.
Rhodes, 24, has scored 54 goals in 100 games for Blackburn and is Bruce's main target.
Nikica Jelavic, 28, led the line as Hull's lone striker in the 1-1 draw with Stoke on Sunday and scored the opening goal.
Hull's run to the FA Cup final last season earned them a place in Europe and they have the extra commitment of the Europa League this campaign.
"We need to give the squad a hand because we've already played five competitive games," Bruce said.
"We'll see what this week brings and hopefully bring in the two or three."

Transfer news: Hull City want Jordan Rhodes, Steve Bruce confirms



Hull City manager Steve Bruce says further discussions regarding a deal for Jordan Rhodes will be held, but admits the picture has become clouded.

Blackburn Rovers striker Rhodes has emerged as a top target for Hull as they seek added firepower.

An initial approach from the KC Stadium has been knocked back, with it reported that a £12million offer has been rejected.

Bruce is refusing to give up the chase, though, as proven goalscorers are hard to come by.

He says another round of talks are planned, after which he will either push ahead to bring Rhodes on board or turn his attention to other striking talents.

Bruce said in the Hull Daily Mail: “It’s difficult. We got an indication from Blackburn 2-3 days ago,

or a week ago, that they were prepared to sell. But now we hear he’s not for sale at any price.

“We’ll have a conversation with Blackburn in the next 24-48 hours then if it’s not to be, we’ll go for the next one.

“Is he for sale or is he not for sale?”
