Transfer news: QPR sign Jordon Mutch from Cardiff on four-year contract

QPR have completed the signing of Jordon Mutch from Cardiff.

The midfielder joins on a four-year contract after Cardiff accepted an undisclosed offer,

and the deal keeps him in the Premier League following City's relegation and QPR's victory in the Championship play-off final.

Mutch, 22, is the third new arrival at Loftus Road this summer following moves for Steven Caulker and Rio Ferdinand.

He said: "I'm really delighted to be here, back in the Premier League.

"I don’t see a better place for me than QPR at the moment. The club is heading in the right direction and I'm really excited about the season ahead.

"I thought I had a good first season in the Premier League last year with Cardiff, so I was delighted when QPR came in for me and offered a route back to the top flight.

I’m really happy to be here and hopefully we can do well this season."

Mutch scored seven times in last season's Premier League, and Harry Redknapp said: "Jordon’s a fine young player, with a big, big future.

"He’s already shown what he can do at this level with Cardiff last season with a decent goals return -

and this move will provide him with a great platform to take his game on to the next level.

"He wants to learn and improve his game. He’s a good pro with a great attitude and this is a big opportunity for him at QPR."

Reports indicate that newly-promoted QPR are close to a £5m deal for Cardiff City midfielder Jordon Mutch, who is also on Gus Poyet's wish list



Queens Park Rangers are reportedly closing in on a £5m move for Sunderland target Jordon Mutch.

The Black Cats had a £3.5m bid for the Cardiff City midfielder turned down earlier this summer, but an expected second offer has yet to materialise.

And newly-promoted QPR are now understood to have made an approach for Mutch,

who scored seven Premier League goals last term, and are thought to be winning the race to sign the 22-year-old.

Cardiff City's midfield maestro looks set for a move back to the Premier League as the Bluebirds negotiate with QPR

Cardiff City midfielder Jordon Mutch could be heading for the exit door just days before the start of the new season after the Bluebirds began negotiations with QPR.

We can reveal Harry Redknapp's £5m bid for the 22-year-old has been turned down, but the Premier League new-boys are now expected to return with an improved offer

The promoted West London outfit are looking to add Mutch,

who scored seven Premier League goals last season, to their squad and link him up with former Bluebirds captain Steven Caulker.

Bluebirds boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not want to sell Mutch but,

as the former Birmingham City man only has one year left on his contract, would be unlikely to risk him leaving for free next summer.

QPR now appear to be in pole position to land one of Cardiff's best players, but there is also interest from at least one other London-based club.

Mutch joined the Bluebirds from Birmingham two years ago for a fee of around £2m, establishing himself as the linchpin of the Cardiff midfield after a slow start.

He played 37 times last season, scoring seven goals.

Rangers are poised to capture Mutch, 22, for £5m after activating a release clause in his Cardiff contract.

Earlier this summer they activated a similar clause to clinch the £8m signing of Steven Caulker from the Welsh club, who were relegated from the Premier League last season.

Mutch joined Cardiff from Birmingham City in 2012 and was a stand-out player for the Bluebirds last term despite their relegation.

Redknapp has been looking to add to his midfield options, having failed to land Steve Sidwell, who joined Stoke, and Craig Bryson, who signed a new contract at Derby.

Jordon Mutch: Cardiff midfielder set to complete £6m QPR move

Cardiff midfielder Jordon Mutch is set to complete a move to newly-promoted Queens Park Rangers.
The Welsh club have accepted an increased offer from QPR which would value the the player at a little under £6m, BBC Radio Wales reports.
Mutch, who scored seven Premier League goals last season, is expected at Loftus Road for a medical on Tuesday.
He will become QPR's second summer signing from Cardiff, following the £8m acquisition of Steven Caulker.
The 22-year-old began his career at Birmingham City, but played in London during a loan spell at Watford in the 2010-11 season where he scored five goals in 23 matches.

JORDON Mutch has become QPR’s third signing of the summer, after Rangers agreed an undisclosed fee with Cardiff City for the midfielder’s services.

Mutch, 22, has agreed a four-year deal at Loftus Road, putting pen to paper on a contract until the summer of 2018.

The deal is, however, subject to the player receiving international clearance.

The midfielder, who scored seven goals and provided five assists in the Premier League for the Bluebirds last term,
