Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hopes an ankle injury sustained by Emre Can in the EFL Cup against Burton on Tuesday does not turn out be serious.

Can, who started as one of four changes to the Reds side that lost at Burnley on Sunday, had to be taken off after 71 minutes of Liverpool's 5-0 thrashing of Burton in the EFL Cup second round.

Klopp's side were already 3-0 up when Can pulled up following an awkward stretch towards the ball and was replaced by youngster Kevin Stewart.

But Klopp said: "I saw the situation. He stretched himself, and he had an issue with his ankle, so that's what is most concerning at the moment.

"The pain is okay, it's not too much, so we have to wait a little bit and hopefully it is nothing serious."

Can was joined from the start by James Milner, Dejan Lovren and Divock Origi, who scored along with Roberto Firmino, two strikes from substitute Daniel Sturridge and an own goal from Tom Naylor.

Klopp was pleased with a "serious" performance from his side, but admitted he had a plan to give certain players more minutes that was disrupted by Can's knock.

"Sturridge and Gini Wijnaldum would have played if it was 2-1. It wasn't about the score," he added.

"We made one change, then a second change with half-an-hour to go, but unfortunately we had to take out Emre. A better choice would have been Divock, who then pulled up with cramp.

"We could give a few players match time, which was very important, because they had a pre-season, but not that long. So they need training and time to play important minutes.

"It was a very serious, very professional performance from my side. The football can always be better but we have one or two nice goals - all good. There's nothing to criticise."

今場利記即係打番闊好多, 右邊Mane+Clyne, 左邊Firmino+Milner. 雖然左翼唔係話Firmino最擅長的位置, 但我地有既人腳, 佢應該係最適合.

不過估唔到Danny Ings連今場都無機會出
