Frank de Boer: Tottenham deny contact with Ajax over manager



Tottenham say it is "wholly inaccurate" that they have contacted Ajax over the availability of coach Frank de Boer.
On Tuesday, a spokesman for the Amsterdam club stated that Spurs had made an enquiry.
"Reports that we have made approaches to other clubs regarding coaching staff are wholly inaccurate," a Tottenham spokesman told BBC Sport.
"We've not contacted any club regarding coaching appointments. We regret that a statement such as this is necessary."

The Ajax representative had told BBC Sport that Spurs approached their director of football Marc Overmars by telephone within the past month.
Current manager Tim Sherwood, who succeeded Andre Villas-Boas in December,
is under contract at White Hart Lane until the end of the 2014-15 campaign.
The club are expected to review his progress at the end of the season.
On Sunday, De Boer led Ajax to a fourth consecutive Dutch title since he took over in 2010 and a 33rd in their history.
The former Ajax and Netherlands defender is the first manager in the Eredivisie to win four straight championships.
He signed a new deal last May to remain in charge of Ajax until 2017.
In an interview with national broadcaster NOS on Tuesday, De Boer confirmed the approach,
adding: "I'm going to listen and talk. Then I'll make my feelings known."
In February, he told the BBC he had turned down the chance to speak to Tottenham after Villas-Boas was sacked.
De Boer said he had also declined talks with Liverpool in the past but would be interested in managing either club in the future

【now.com體育】熱刺周三發聲明指，沒有和阿積士教練法蘭迪保亞接觸。

鑑於「意中人」雲高爾很大機會到曼聯執教，有傳熱刺把目標轉到同為荷蘭人的阿積士教練法蘭迪保亞（Frank de Boer），而後者周二更自爆熱刺曾向他招手。

不過，熱刺周三很快就對以上種種作出否認，在聲明指：「有關我們曾向其他球隊教練接洽的報道，絕對是不真確的，我們沒有就羅致新帥一事，和任何球隊聯絡。對於必須發表聲明來否認，我們深感遺憾，但認為這是必須要做的事。」

法蘭迪保亞剛帶領阿積士，連續4季贏得聯賽冠軍，達成了前無古人的荷甲成就，加上其球員時代的名氣，對愛「名牌」的熱刺，可說是合適人選，未知這英超球會今次的舉動，是真的不打算招來法蘭迪保亞，還是只待成事才公佈。

Ronald de Boer has backed twin brother Frank to be a success at Tottenham should the Ajax coach move to White Hart Lane this summer.

The Premier League club are reportedly searching for a new manager to replace Tim Sherwood, who is not expected to complete the final year of the 18-month contract given to him in December following the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas.

The Dutch champions said on Tuesday that Spurs contacted them last month over the availability of Frank, who led the Amsterdam club to a record fourth straight league title this season.

De Boer also claimed there had been contact, prompting Spurs to issue a denial on Wednesday having said last month they would assess their options at the end of the season.

However, Ronald, who is youth team coach at Ajax, believes Frank would be a good fit for the Londoners.

"It is a nice club with history, one of the nicest clubs in the Premiership," he said. "The club has ambition and the budget for it.

"Frank knows some of the players there, like (Christian) Eriksen and (Jan) Vertonghen - (Nacer) Chadli and (Mousa) Dembele too - there's lots of quality at the club. I think he can build something.

"Frank's feeling is important, the club's philosophy is as well - what kind of football they want to play - that will be decisive. He will take his time, to think about it."

Manager Frank de Boer has told Sky Sports he has no intention of leaving Ajax this summer but will listen to an offer from Tottenham if one comes.

The Dutch champions claim they have already had an enquiry from Spurs about De Boer's availability, but that was refuted by the Premier League club in midweek.

De Boer is favourite with the bookmakers to take over from Tim Sherwood, who replaced Andre Villas-Boas midway through the 2013-14 season, although there are reports in the Sunday newspapers they have switched their attention to Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Ajax celebrated their 33rd title on Saturday, finishing the season with a 2-2 draw against NEC Nijmegen, and De Boer talked about the possibility of a new challenge at a press conference afterwards.

"I'm not thinking about the future right now," De Boer told Sky Sports.

"I have no intention to leave the club. When Tottenham Hotspur maybe will come, I will talk - not only Tottenham maybe other clubs who I think I am interested in, I will listen.

"I am very happy here. On June 23 we start again our preparation. That is what I am thinking about, first I have to get a signal from other clubs and then I will see."

Former Liverpool midfielder Christian Poulsen, who captained Ajax on Saturday, thinks De Boer would be a success in England.

He said: "For me, he is a winner. Everybody who works with around him would say that. He's really professional, he has been building things up here the last four years at Ajax.

"Every year he puts something on, specialists for the physical and for the mind. He's a good coach but he is also good at leaving responsibility to others. I have only good things to say."
