Antonio Rudiger set to sign for Roma from Stuttgart - report Stuttgart defender Antonio Rudiger has passed his medical at Roma and is set to join the Serie A side on five-year deal, according to Stuttgarter Nachrichten. Rudiger, 22, who is currently working on his comeback following knee surgery, was pictured with a Roma scarf upon his arrival in the Italian capital.
While Rudiger will sign a five-year contract, he is set to join the Giallorossi on an initial one-year loan -- to bypass UEFA's financial fair play restrictions -- before an obligatory purchase clause kicks in.
In total, the deal is believed to be worth around ?13 million. "Roma are an outstanding team and in Rudi Garcia I have an outstanding coach," Rudiger was quoted as saying by SWR. "I have not met a single player who does not have the dream of playing in the Champions League."
Throughout the summer, the Germany international -- whose mother is from Sierra Leone -- had been linked with a move away from Stuttgart, with Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and Wolfsburg all believed to have been interested in him at some point.
