Chris Coleman remains keen to talk to Hull despite the Wales FA rejecting the club's request to talk to him about taking charge at the KCOM Stadium, according to Sky sources. It is understood the main stumbling block to Coleman's appointment would be reaching an agreement with the Welsh FA and with that in mind, City are still in talks with Gianfranco Zola and a third, unnamed candidate over a replacement for Steve Bruce. Bruce stepped down last month over reported concern at a lack of investment, having steered the club back into the Premier League.
Sky in Italy reported on Monday the Tigers had made an approach to Zola and the Welsh FA confirmed on Tuesday it has denied City permission to talk to Coleman, who signed a new two-year contract in May before leading the country to the Euro 2016 semi-finals.
Wales' first game on the road to Russia 2018 is against Moldova on September 5, with Hull's Premier League campaign starting at home to champions Leicester on August 13.
