Full-back to play at Turf Moor for the 2016/17 season
Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan has moved to Burnley on a season-long loan deal.
The 23-year-old will spend the season with the newly-promoted Premier League outfit after being offered the chance to secure regular first-team football.
Flanagan was told of Burnley's offer last month, and was omitted from Liverpool's tour of the USA as a result.
And after thinking over his options, the Anfield-born full back has opted to spend a year with Sean Dyche's Clarets, hoping to return ready to show Klopp he can be part of Liverpool's long-term plans.
Flanagan signed a three-year contract in March, having made a successful return from a long-term knee injury. He made eight appearances in total last season, captaining his boyhood club against Southampton.
His exit now leaves Klopp short on cover in both full back positions.
The Reds boss has already suggested he will use midfielder James Milner as backup for Alberto Moreno at left back, while Nathaniel Clyne will have, for now, a combination of Andre Wisdom, Connor Randall and Trent Alexander-Arnold as his deputies – Randall could also depart on loan before the end of the transfer window, with Wigan interested. The versatile Joe Gomez, meanwhile, is currently nursing an Achilles injury having missed most of last season with a knee problem.
Flanagan could make his Burnley debut against Swansea City at Turf Moor on the opening day of the season, and follows Allan Rodriguez de Souza and Cameron Brannagan in leaving Liverpool on loan this week.
Allan signed for Hertha Berlin after a successful trial, while Brannagan has moved to Wigan for the season.
