Premier League: Daniel Sturridge ruled out for up to eight weeks
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed Daniel Sturridge will miss up to eight weeks with an ankle injury. Sturridge
suffered the injury at the club's Melwood complex on Friday, not long after Rodgers had talked up his impressive performances in training.
The club confirmed on Saturday they were awaiting results of a scan after he apparently
sprained his ankle, with fears that he
had suffered a similar ligament problem to the one that sidelined him last season. Sturridge was left out of their side to face Everton in the Merseyside derby last weekend after playing 90 minutes for England against Germany with a niggling thigh problem.
But he came off the bench to score their last-gasp equaliser in a 3-3 draw at Goodison Park and had been set to start alongside Luis Suarez on Sunday at Hull
until he was hurt again. The injury leaves Liverpool short of forward support for Suarez although summer signing Iago Aspas was included on their bench
at the KC Stadium after a long spell out with a thigh injury.
