Premier League: Hull City's Tom Huddlestone has haircut for cancer charity Hull City midfielder
Tom Huddlestone is ready for a new start in 2014 after getting his first haircut in more than two-and-a-half years. The former Tottenham player
has been growing out his afro in aid of Cancer Research UK, having vowed not to have it clipped until he next scored a goal.
Frustratingly perhaps for him - but fortunately for the charity - his
drought lasted from his last Spurs goal in April 2011, in a 3-3 draw with Arsenal, until his first Hull strike against Fulham on 28 December.
He celebrated with an impromptu snip on the sidelines, courtesy of Hull physio Rob Price, but headed to the KC Stadium to complete the job.
Waiting for him there was
stylist Lance Lowe, Huddlestone's favourite London hairdresser, who had travelled north specifically for the job. "I'm feeling good. I'm feeling a little bit colder but thankfully the haircut is out of the way now," Huddlestone told Sky Sports News.
"Obviously I've set out what I achieved to do which
was to raise a little bit of awareness for the charity and finally get a haircut. There was stages when I thought I had jinxed myself and that I would never score.
"I trusted the barber to do what he wanted with a little bit of guidance from me and he's handled it fairly well to be fair.
"I had a couple of requests on Twitter for a Mr T mohican but have decided not to go as drastic as that. It is a big moment and one we want to do properly.
"The target was £70,000. At the final whistle against Fulham it was £12,000 so that has trebled in three days and hopefully we'll still be able to reach our original target.
"Fair play to the public, I'd like to thank them for raising the awareness and pledging their money.
"Hopefully my next cut won't be as long coming now and I hope someone else will do the same now because it's a good cause." Lowe, whose formative years were spent at Vidal Sassoon, has worked with top fashion magazines in Britain and Europe and has styled for Rio Ferdinand and Didier Drogba.
He said: "I've been texting Tom for the best part of the three years asking 'when are we doing this?' I couldn't wait to get my hands on that hair."
The piece of hair that was cut off pitchside after the goal is being auctioned on the internet, where bids have reached £3,500. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9098812/premier-league-hull-citys-tom-huddlestone-has-haircut-for-cancer-charity [ 此帖被羅力亞在2014-01-03 02:05重新編輯 ]
