Kevin De Bruyne has today (Saturday) completed a move to Wolfsburg.

The Belgian joins the Bundesliga club having made five starts for Chelsea, with a further four appearances as a substitute.

De Bruyne moved to Stamford Bridge in January 2012 from Genk after playing against us twice in the Champions League earlier that season,

and was loaned back to his former club for the remainder of the 2011/12 campaign.

After travelling with the first team squad for our pre-season tour of the US,

in which he featured in matches against Seattle Sounders and Paris Saint-Germain, De Bruyne then completed a season-long loan move to Werder Bremen for 2012/13.

The young winger was a success during his spell in Germany, and ended his time at the club having scored 10 goals in 34 appearances.

De Bruyne returned to Stamford Bridge over the summer and was again part of the first team squad as we travelled to Asia and the US for our

pre-season preparations. De Bruyne scored his first goal for the club in a 2-0 win over AC Milan in New Jersey.

The 22-year-old was handed his competitive Chelsea debut on the first day of the season against Hull City,

where he laid on the opening goal of the game for Oscar, and he also started in our 0-0 draw at Manchester United three games into the campaign.

His final appearance for the Blues came in our Capital One Cup defeat at Sunderland last month.

Chelsea Football Club thanks Kevin for his service and wishes him well at his new club.

Chelsea are no different, but while Mourinho admitted Kevin De Bruyne may leave the club, there have been no bids for any other players.
'He has a chance to go,' explained the Portuguese. 'He's a player that we've had a couple of offers for. We will keep analysing these offers.
One of them is coming to a level where we believe it can be a good situation for the player and the club.
'We know he's a fantastic young player with lots of potential, I can say I would be happy to keep him and develop him,
but we also have to analyse the player's profile,the player's personality and he wants so much to go that maybe it's a good option.
'It's a very good deal for the club from a financial point of view,
the club bought him a couple of years ago for a small fee and now we have the possibility to sell him for a very positive amount.

Chelsea midfielder Kevin de Bruyne is expected to make a £16m move to German club Wolfsburg in the next 48 hours.

The Belgium international, who spent last season on loan at Werder Bremen, has started just five matches since joining Chelsea from Genk in 2012.

The 22-year-old is expected to sign a five-year deal and his fee could rise to close to £20m with add-ons.

De Bruyne's sale will allow Chelsea to pursue a deal to re-sign midfielder Nemanja Matic, 25, from Benfica.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho walked out of a news conference earlier this season after being irritated by questions about De Bruyne.

The Portuguese has identified Matic as a key target in this transfer window and talks are under way between the clubs over a fee that is expected to exceed £20m.

The Serbia defensive midfielder, who is in Zurich to attend the Fifa Ballon D'Or ceremony, left Chelsea in 2011 as a makeweight in the deal to sign David Luiz.

He had moved to Stamford Bridge in August 2009 from MFK Kosice but made only three appearances for the London club and spent the 2010-11 season on loan with Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem.

Reports are suggesting that Chelsea winger Kevin de Bruyne will now have a medical at Wolfsburg on Wednesday ahead of finalising his move to the Bundesliga club.

Kevin De Bruyne is having his medical at Wolfsburg having agreed a five-and-a-half-year contract according to Sky Deutschland.
