Manchester United ready £30m bid for Real Madrid star Mesut Ozil
MANCHESTER United are poised to launch a £30m bid for Real Madrid's Mesut Ozil. The German midfielder has been made available by the Spanish giants and United boss David Moyes is leading the race to sign him.
Moyes has turned to Ozil, 24, after failing to lure Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona. The Scot is keen to land a creative midfielder before the transfer window closes and believes Ozil would be a hit at the champions. The 24-year-old knows he is on borrowed time once Gareth Bale arrives in a world record deal from Tottenham.
He is desperate to find a new club to boost his hopes of making Germany's World Cup squad and Old Trafford is his preferred destination.
Moyes wants a marquee signing to show the doubters United can still attract the big names.
Real bosses value Ozil closer to £40m but are desperate to offload him to make way for Bale.
Moyes will also make an improved bid for Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini and has accused former club Everton of holding the duo back after slamming United's initial £28m joint bid.
Moyes said: "I signed every player at Everton so I know a lot about them.
"The bid from United's point of view was a private thing.
"If and when we make a new offer, we'd keep that offer private and confidential as well."
