Manchester United offer ?30 million and De Gea for Ramos Sergio Ramos has taken the decision to leave Real Madrid this summer and one of his possible destinations is Manchester United.
The English club is set to capitalise on the anger the defender has towards Madrid for how they are dealing with his services.
United are willing to offer ?30 million and De Gea to sign Ramos, a deal that would amount to between ?70-75 million. The Andalusian centre-back would receive around ?12 million per season.
It would therefore be one of the biggest transfers in the history of Madrid, alongside the ?70 million United paid for Di María) and
Ramos would earn double what he does now. At Old Trafford they consider Ramos to be a possible cornerstone in helping the club back to the heights of competing for silverware in Europe.
The Premier League club have no interest in getting rid of De Gea, despite having Victor Valdés as cover.
But they want to take advantage of the weakness Madrid have on the goalkeeper front with the conflict with Iker Casillas and the injury to Keylor Navas to try and unlock the transfer of Ramos by using De Gea
. Although sources from Manchester United say that nobody from Madrid has approached them to talk about the Spanish goalkeeper, contact is taking place through intermediaries. But United’s possible move for Ramos is not something that has emerged in recent days.
Representatives of the English club made contact with René Ramos, the brother and agent of Sergio, to find out what the defender´s situation was.
A face-to-face meeting took place in April in a London hotel.
There, Manchester United informed René Ramos of their interest in signing the player that played a key role in Madrid lifting La Décim.
On the date the meeting took place in the English capital the problems between the player and Madrid had not reached the degree of deterioration that they have now.
Back then it seemed highly unlikely Ramos would leave the club.
However, as AS reported yesterday, the Seville-born defender is angry with Madrid for their allowance to see him as the protagonist of recent events (leaks about his future, personal attacks…). The straw that broke the camel’s back for Ramos was that nobody from the club came out to defend him against accusations that he was offered as part of the Barcelona presidential elections.
Unprecedented. Although he is under contract until 2017, Sergio Ramos has been receiving English classes to prepare for a possible exit from Ramos.
The defender has started to fear that he could leave the club by the back door, as has happened previously to other club icons.
If there are no solutions to the differences between the club and their vice captain, his exit could come sooner rather than later.
