West Brom eye Malouda as Clarke looks to bring Chelsea old boys back together
Chelsea reject Florent Malouda could soon be following his former teammate Nicolas Anelka to West Brom. The Frenchman is available on a Bosman after leaving Stamford Bridge this summer and reports in the Mirror suggest the Baggies are prepared to take a chance on the 33-year-old.
Malouda was the final signing of Jose Mourinho's first reign at Chelsea where he often lined up alongside fellow France international Anelka.
Chelsea paid £13.5million for Malouda in 2007 but he only made one appearance last season under Roberto Di Matteo and Rafa Benitez.
A move to The Hawthorns could appeal to the wideman, who would be linking up with former Chelsea assistant manager Steve Clarke.
West Brom released winger Jerome Thomas last month so Malouda could be the perfect man to take his place in the squad.
Anelka signed a one-year deal with the Baggies last week and Clarke has also shown interest in ex-Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou.
