Alexandre Pato says he is keen on a move to England amid rumours of interest from Premier League clubs.

The former AC Milan forward endured an injury-hit spell towards the end of his stay in Italy and returned to his native Brazil to join Corinthians in 2013.

However, the 26-year-old is now injury-free and, having scored 26 goals in 59 matches during a loan spell with Sao Paulo, is ready to return to European football.

Corinthians are reportedly ready to sell the Brazil international in January, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool said to be among the interested parties.

"Before I came to Italy to play for Milan in 2007, I saw in the papers that my name was mentioned in connection with some English clubs," he said in interviews with the Mail on Sunday and Sunday Telegraph.

"I was told Chelsea were interested but my dream was to play with Ronaldo. When Milan called my manager, I wanted to go there to make my dreams of playing with Ronaldo and [Paolo] Maldini come true.

"But one day I knew I would like to come to England because I think the Premier League is the number one in the world. It is very competitive. I like the emotion in the English league. You look at the TV and you see the stadium and the fans."

He added: "My dream is to come back to Europe. I think it has to be to a club that plays to be champions; that challenges and has ambition."

Chelsea have held talks over signing Brazil striker Alexandre Pato as the club aim to boost their options up front this month.
Interim manager Guus Hiddink has admitted Chelsea need greater attacking strength in depth following injuries to Loïc Rémy and Radamel Falcao, and Pato now hopes to complete a move to Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have made a check on Carlos Bacca, but AC Milan do not want to let the Colombian go this month. There is also strong interest in Jamie Vardy, but Leicester City are desperate to hang on to their centre-forward.

Pato, though, has made no secret of his desire to move to the Premier League and Corinthians are ready to let the 26-year-old leave for around £10m, which is much less than £30m-rated Vardy would cost.
Former AC Milan striker Pato would be eligible to play in the Champions League for Chelsea and would increase the club’s Brazilian first-team contingent that currently consists of Willian, Oscar, Ramires and Kenedy.
Pato was one of the most highly rated strikers in the world when he moved to Italy in 2007, but injuries interrupted his progress and he returned to Brazil three years ago when he joined Corinthians.
While on-loan for the majority of the 2014-15 campaign at São Paulo, Pato scored 26 goals in 59 appearances, which put them into the Libertadores Cup.
Speaking to Telegraph Sport last month, Pato said: “I would like to come to England because I think the championship [the Premier League] is the No1 in the world.
“I want to write a new story in Europe, to make a new history. I want to come to win the championship and play again in the Champions League. I have dreams again. I want to create this new story, a good new story.”
It is unclear whether signing Pato would mean Chelsea dropped their interest in Vardy or whether they could go for him as well and allow Rémy, who is wanted by a number of clubs, to leave during the current window.

Alexandre Pato has contacted Chelsea midfielder Willian and third choice goalkeeper Marco Amelia as he weighs up a potential move to Stamford Bridge in January.
The 26-year-old striker is currently playing for Corinthians in his home country of Brazil but with Chelsea lining up a move, he has discussed life in London with his compatriots.
The Premier League champions, currently languishing in 14th and only four points above the relegation zone, are looking to bolster their firepower in attack with Loic Remy linked with a move away.
Pato was widely regarded as one of the hottest attacking prospects in Europe during the first half of his five-year spell at AC Milan from 2007 until 2012.
He scored 51 goals in 117 games at the club but the final two years were stifled by injury problems.

Pato returned to Brazil with Corinthians in 2013 and his time back home has also included a loan spell at Sao Paolo.
But it is England and the Champions League which Pato yearns for, as he told Sportsmail in December.
‘I remember my first time in the Champions League. I was 18 and it was Arsenal against Milan at The Emirates,' Pato said,
‘The night before, I remember I put my music on my iPod. I was lying in bed and I listened to the Champions League music. That was my Champions League debut, my first time. It was beautiful. When I went out onto the pitch it was just “wow”.
'I like the emotion in the English league. My special thing is my speed. I’m fast. I don’t think the physical part of English football would be a problem. I have spoken to Willian, Firmino, Coutinho and David Luiz before. I think Brazilian players can play here.'
