Newcastle have struck a sponsorship deal with wonga.com which will see the club's stadium name revert to St James' Park.
The loan company has bought the naming rights to the ground -officially called the Sports Direct Arena - and given them tosupporters, many of whom voiced unease when news of the shirtsponsorship broke.
Michael Martin, editor of the True Faith fanzine, said theassociation would push him "close to breaking point", while local MP andseason-ticket holder Ian Lavery has vowed to boycott games.
But a statement from Newcastle said Wonga had pledged to investheavily in the club's academy and community projects during the courseof the four-year deal.
And managing director Derek Llambias said: "We are building a clubthat can regularly compete for top honours at the highest level.
"As everyone knows, a strong commercial programme is vital to thisgoal and I am delighted to welcome Wonga into the fold as our leadcommercial partner.
"Throughout our discussions Wonga's desire to help us invest in ouryoung playing talent, the local community and new fan initiatives reallyimpressed us and stood them apart from other candidates."
