Stoke City have confirmed to ESPN that they have made an transferenquiry for Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam and are ready to make a £4million offer.

Pottersmanager Tony Pulis has targeted Adam, who appears surplus torequirements under new Anfield manager Brendan Rodgers, afterconsidering alternative deals for Spurs' Tom Huddlestone and BlackburnRovers' Steven N'Zonzi.
He faces opposition from Fulham andEverton, who have both made tentative enquiries for the 26-year-old andTurkish club Fenerbahce are also another potential destination.
Pulis's assistant Dave Kemp added:"There's an interest but whether that comes to fruition, I don't know.There are so many aspects to deals. We're not the only club in town."
"Adam is not our player. He's a very good player but so are many others out there.
"There are always people in the pot. They aren't done deals and I can't name names."
Pulis has been told he has to offload players before he can bring in anymore signings and £5 million-rated striker Kenwyne Jones has been putup for sale, with three clubs declaring an interest.
Speakingprior to Liverpool's Europa League tie against Hearts on Wednesday,Rodgers was unwilling to comment on the future of Adam.
"We havehad a number of enquiries about some of our players," said the Redsboss. "I have been open and up front with all the players. You can seefrom Sunday's game [against Manchester City] our spirit is very strongin the group, but the reality is players want to play.
"Everyoneknows where they stand at this moment. One or two of them may havedecisions to make as to whether they want to be a squad player or playregularly somewhere else."
Meanwhile, Stoke are close tocompleting the signing of Rangers midfielder Maurice Edu after beinggiven permission to finalise his work permit application.
TheUnited States international has been a long-standing target of Pulis andlast weekend agreed terms on a three-year deal and passed a medical.
Kemp said: "He has been granted the work permit, but as usual, there are other bits of paper that have to be stamped and marked.
"Hehas another appointment tomorrow, I think with the Border Agency justto clarify that. But he has been granted the work permit, so hopefullywe are very close to getting that over the line."
