Jurgen Klopp is considering prolonging Liverpool's Boot Room tradition - with Dietmar Hamann the shock contender for a Reds coaching role.
Liverpool's manager-in-waiting is pondering the idea of having a former Anfield player on his backroom team.And Hamann is understood to be in Klopp's thinking as he finalises his plans ahead of arriving on Merseyside.
The ex-Liverpool midfielder has completed his UEFA Pro Licence and has already held coaching roles at Leicester and MK Dons.Hamann, who won the Champions League with Liverpool, also spent a short spell managing Stockport County.
The German's former Anfield team-mate Gary McAllister has been relieved of his duties as he and Sean O'Driscoll faced the cull of Brendan Rodgers' era.
Both assistant manager O'Driscoll and first-team coach McAllister were told of the decision made by the Anfield hierarchy on Thursday.
Robbie Fowler has spoken of his desire to be part of Klopp's regime and could come into the German's thoughts too.
'I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested if a new manager comes in and I'd love to be on the backroom staff,' said the former Reds striker.
'Liverpool's a massive part of my life. If that was to be the case than I'd absolutely love that.'
Perhaps, the most romantic return to Anfield could be for ex-captain Steven Gerrard.
The Liverpool legend left the club at the end of last season; joining MLS outfit LA Galaxy.
