Northern Ireland sealed qualification for their first major tournament since 1986 with a 3-1 victory against Greece at Windsor Park.

Captain Steven Davis set his side on their way to France 2016 in the 35th minute when he tapped home Staurt Dallas' cross from close range.

Michael O'Neill's side doubled their advantage just after the interval when Josh Magennis, who until 2008 played in goal before converting to become a striker, headed home Oliver Norwood's corner.

The job was all but complete for Northern Ireland but they made the result safe nine minutes later when Davis scored his second of the night, looping a header into the far corner to start the celebrations on the pitch and in the stands.

Greece pulled a consolation goal back with just minute remaining when substitute Christos Aravidis bundled the ball home from close range but nothing was going to dampen Northern Ireland's historic night.

Northern Ireland were moments away from an even better night but a late Romania equaliser against Finland denied them top spot in Group F.

However, O'Neill's men can cap a perfect European qualifying campaign and secure top spot with a point when they travel to Helsinki to face Finalnd on Sunday..

Republic of Ireland produced a stunning victory over world champions Germany in Dublin to leave automatic qualification for Euro 2016 in their own hands.
Substitute Shane Long's sublime 70th-minute finish from a long kick by keeper Darren Randolph, on for injured Shay Given, secured a memorable win.
Joachim Low's side dominated possession but could not find the net.
Jerome Boateng headed over before Ilkay Gundogan, Andre Schurrle and Thomas Muller wasted chances.
The most important win of Martin O'Neill's two-year reign means the Republic will qualify for Euro 2016 if they defeat Poland in Warsaw on Sunday.
They are already guaranteed at least a play-off place while Germany, despite defeat, have qualified for next summer's tournament in France.

主場出擊的葡萄牙當然由球星基斯坦奴朗拿度掛帥，中堅位置因為比比受傷，今仗以卡維奴合拍般奴艾維斯，中場則有摩天奴（Joao Moutinho）和堤亞高文迪斯坐鎮。丹麥方面，由賓特拿任單箭頭，基斯甸艾歷臣作支援。

雙方在上半場的攻勢都不算太入肉，葡萄牙受制於中堅卡積亞和丹尼爾艾格的穩健演出，戰至40分鐘才有具威脅的埋門，當時拿尼接應C朗的傳中球一頂僅僅高出，以0:0完半場。入球終於在下半場出現，摩天奴接應傳送後，右腳射出一記靚波，收死了卡斯柏舒米高，助葡萄牙在66分鐘領先1:0。戰至賽事尾段，丹麥在賓特拿的頭槌攻門頂斜後，終以0:1落敗。

賽後，葡萄牙在I組以7戰6勝1負得18分，提早1輪鎖定榜首位置，更拿下決賽周入場券。由於阿爾巴尼亞同日以0:2不敵塞爾維亞，少賽1場的丹麥現以1分力壓阿國，仍有望爭以次席身分直接出線。

德國雖然只需要1分就出線，但仍然排出強陣，以湯馬士梅拿（Thomas Mueller）、馬里奧葛斯、馬高列奧斯和奧斯爾齊齊攻堅；至於愛爾蘭主力前鋒羅比堅尼就令人意外地只列後備，由約拿芬禾達斯和戴利梅菲合組雙箭頭。

雖然是作客，但德國早早就控制戰局，馬高列奧斯於8分鐘就在禁區內有射門機會，但「窩利」抽射省中人而不中目標。19分鐘，奧斯爾接應湯馬士梅拿的傳送後射入，可是因為前者越位在先，球證判了德國這入球無效。完半場前，奧斯爾差點真的取得入球，但其射門僅僅斜出。

由於波蘭以2:2打和蘇格蘭，德國輸波後9戰得19分，仍以1分之微壓倒同得18分的波蘭和愛爾蘭排榜首，而波蘭則以較佳得失球排次席。3支球隊要在最後一輪，才決出誰可殺入決賽周，畢竟波蘭與愛爾蘭對戰，德國形勢上仍處上風。
