Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge ruled out by knee problem, Sky sources Last Updated: 17/10/15 12:47pm
Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is struggling with a knee problem, according to Sky sources. It is understood the 26-year-old travelled with the Reds squad on Friday for Jurgen Klopp's first game at Tottenham on Saturday lunchtime. But it was decided on Saturday morning that he would not be risked and did not feature in be match-day squad for the game at White Hart Lane. The news comes as yet another blow not 24 hours after it was confirmed that fellow striker Danny Ings would join Joe Gomez in being out for the entire season with a crucial step knee ligament injury.
Sturridge has struggled with injury problems for more than a year, recently returning from a long absence following surgery on his hip.
Sturridge returned in the 1-1 draw at home to Norwich on September 3 and has made just three appearances so far this season.
And his name is once again added to a lengthy injury list for Liverpool that currently includes Christian Benteke, Roberto Firmino, Jordan Henderson, Jon Flanagan, Ings, Gomez, Dejan Lovren and Jordan Rossiter.
