Martinez and Jelavic earn Barclays awardsWigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has been named Barclays Manager of the Month for April, with Everton striker Nikica Jelavic winning the Player of the Month award.
Martinez led the Latics to three victories from their five Barclays Premier League matches during the month, leading them out of the relegation zone in the process.
Wigan started the month with an unfortunate 2-1 defeat at Chelsea, but they bounced back by beating Manchester United 1-0 and winning 2-1 at Arsenal, before a 2-1 loss at Fulham was followed up by a 4-0 thumping of high-flying Newcastle.
Martinez, in his third season as a Premier League manager, has won his first monthly award since joining the Latics in 2009.

Croatian striker Jelavic, 26, has also won his first Barclays prize since joining the Toffees from Rangers in the January transfer window.
He has made a fine start to his career at Goodison Park and scored six goals in the three Barclays Premier League matches he played during April.
"I am really pleased to have won the Barclays Player of the Month award," said Jelavic. "Everyone at Everton has been very good to me since I arrived at the club and I am glad that I have been able to reward the fans for their fantastic support.
"Awards are always nice and this one shows how well the team is doing just now. We are playing some great football and we are creating chances, which for a centre-forward is obviously very important.
"We are finishing the season really well and we hope to end with two more wins from our last two games."
Jelavic bagged a brace in a 2-2 draw at Norwich, struck two more as Everton drew 4-4 at Manchester United, and then scored another two goals as they thrashed Fulham 4-0 at Goodison Park.
