Sky Sports understands Queens Park Rangers are amongst a number of clubs monitoring Clint Dempsey's situation at Fulham.

The USA international has emerged as one of the Premier League's top performers this season, with a hat-trick against Newcastle at the weekend his second of the campaign.

Dempsey is the top flight's most prolific midfielder having troubled the scoresheet 15 times already and is not short of admirers.

With 18 months of his current contract to run at Craven Cottage and as yet no talks of extension having been mooted, several suitors have been alerted.

At the head of the queue are QPR, with Mark Hughes well aware of Dempsey's capabilities having managed the 28-year-old during his own stint in charge of the Cottagers.

Martin Jol would be loath to lose a player widely credited to be Fulham's best this season but it remains to be seen whether QPR will test his resolve between now and the close of the transfer window.

Villarreal have confirmed that they are in advanced negotiations with Tottenham over the signing of Mexican forward Giovani Dos Santos.

The 22-year-old Mexican international has failed to establish himself since arriving at White Hart Lane in the summer of 2008 from Barcelona.

This season he has been used principally by Harry Redknapp in domestic and European Cup competitions, contributing a couple of goals against Shamrock Rovers and Cheltenham.

However, it seems Dos Santos is now ready to bring an end to his time in North London with Villarreal hopeful of completing a deal before the close of the transfer window, although La Liga rivals Espanyol and Granada are also thought to be interested.

"The negotiations are well on the way and it seems like the player wants to come to Villarreal," said the Spanish outfit's vice president Jose Manuel Llaneza.

"The deal is not finalised, but we expect a solution by the weekend. Villarreal needs more attacking players."

Nilmar could depart

The Spaniards are keen to bolster their attacking options following a hugely disappointing first half of the season which sees them only out of the relegation places on goal difference.

In addition, there are also reports that strike Nilmar could leave the club having been linked with a return to his native Brazil.

Of a possible deal, Llaneza added: "When we have solved that for better or worse we will say, we don't wish to speak about it when we're negotiating.

"Until March, when the Brazilian window closes, there is time."

Granada and Villarreal and believed to be in negotiations for wantaway Spurs midfielder Giovani.

Aston Villa are ready to let Emile Heskey walk away for nothing this summer.

The former England striker, 34, is one of the top earners after being brought in by Martin O’Neill.

His contract is up in July and both Villa and Heskey have already provisionally agreed to part company.

There are no fresh talks planned with a view to keeping the veteran, who cost £3.5million from Wigan two years ago. Heskey has only scored 10 goals and he has struggled with form and fitness despite quitting international duty.

Villa owner Randy Lerner is keen to cut the average Villa first-team salary from £57,000-a-week to £46,000-a-week, as revealed by Mirrorsport.

Heskey is sure to interest his old club Leicester.

Villa trio Carlos Cuellar, Habib Beye and goalkeeper Brad Guzan are also out of contract in the summer.

Chelsea are in talks with Genk over the signing of Kevin de Bruyne, the Belgian club have confirmed.

De Bruyne, 20, has been on Chelsea's radar for some time and could be a Blues player by the end of the week after Genk director Dirk Degraen flew in to London for talks.

If a deal is completed, it is anticipated the midfielder will be loaned back to the Belgian champions for the rest of the season.

"Dirk Degraen is in London and the expectation is that it (the transfer of De Bruyne) will be finished this week," a Genk spokesman said.

"The assumption is that Kevin de Bruyne will be transferred to Chelsea and then will finish the season (on loan) at Genk."

De Bruyne, predominantly a left-sided player, joined Genk at 14 and went on to make his full debut three years later.

He forced his way in the club's first team two years ago and helped the Belgian side win the domestic title last term.

De Bruyne made his international debut in 2010 and is seen as one of the brightest young prospects in the country.

He has already played twice against Chelsea for Genk in this season's Champions League group stage.

Should De Bruyne move to Stamford Bridge, he will become the third Belgian player signed by Andre Villas-Boas following the arrivals of Romelu Lukaku and Thibaut Courtois.

The Blues boss has looked to sign young players to lower the average age of his squad since taking over last summer.

The Portuguese, 34, has made just one major signing so far this transfer window - the capture of England centre-half Gary Cahill from Bolton.

The west Londoners, who sit fourth in the Barclays Premier League, have recently been strongly linked with Shakhtar Donetsk star Willian.

The Ukrainian champions claimed earlier this week that they had rejected a £16.7million bid from Chelsea for the Brazilian.

Rosicky's future to be decided in next few days as agent flies in for talks with Wenger

Tomas Rosicky's future with Arsenal will be determined over the next few days after his agent Pavel Paska arrived in London for talks with manager Arsene Wenger.

The 31-year-old Czech midfielder is out of contract in the summer and has been linked with Wolfsburg and Fulham but Paska said: 'Fulham is just speculation. I am now going to have a meeting with Arsene Wenger but won't comment on anything before that.'

Nancy midfielder Samba Diakite is close to agreeing a loan transfer to QPR, France Football reports.

The Mali international has been strongly linked with a new challenge after establishing himself as a key member of the Ligue 1 outfit since 2010.

Olympique Lyonnais were understood to be frontrunners in the race to sign Diakite, but it is reported that the Stade de Gerland outfit decided not to follow up their interest in the African as they did not wish to lose him to the African Cup of Nations.

Diakite will reportedly join QPR until on a six-month loan deal, with the Premier League side having the option to buy him outright for ?4 million at the end of the season.

The West London club, who sit 16th in the Premier League standings, have already signed Federico Macheda and Taye Taiwo on loan in January and are in talks with Sao Paulo regarding Henrique.

Wanderers Seal Ream Deal

Bolton Wanderers confirm the signing of defender Tim Ream from New York Red Bulls for an undisclosed fee.

The United States international has signed a three-and-a-half year contract at the Reebok Stadium after making the move across the Atlantic.

Ream, 24, returns to Wanderers after spending a week-long stint training with the football club at the back end of last year during the MLS off-season.

"First and foremost we are absolutely delighted to secure Tim's services," said manager Owen Coyle.

"He is a US international, a player that year-on-year has progressed and got better, and he will continue to do that.

"He was trailed by a number of clubs, including West Brom and also Arsenal who tried to sign him in the summer, so it is great that he sees his future here.

"Tim is everything that we want in the players we are bringing to the club when we spend in the transfer market. He is young, has a tremendous attitude and a winning mentality.

"I know he will fit in well with the rest of the squad here at Bolton."

Missouri-born Ream made the step up to the United States elite division when he signed for New York Red Bulls in the early part of 2010.

And over the course of the last two MLS seasons, Ream has been a virtual ever-present, making just short of 60 appearances for the Red Bulls.

Ream has played seven times for the US national team since breaking onto the international scene in November 2010 when he made his full senior debut against South Africa.

The transfer is subject to international clearance and immigration formalities.

Blackburn striker Jason Roberts is having a medical at Reading ahead of a move to the Championship club.

Roberts, 34, has dropped down the pecking order under Steve Kean this season, having played only 12 games amid a contract dispute.

The BBC Radio 5 live media pundit has recently aired his frustration at the lack of first-team football.

Meanwhile, Swiss club Young Boys say right-back Scott Sutter is to open contract talks with Blackburn.

Grenada international Roberts was also been linked with a move to Ipswich over the summer.

The former West Bromwich Albion and Wigan Athletic striker, who has been at Ewood Park since July 2006, signed a one-year extension to his contract in January 2011.

Roberts scored twice in the final three games of the 2010-2011 season as Blackburn avoided relegation from the Premier League.

Writing on Twitter, Roberts said: "I have enjoyed every moment of my time at the club. I have so many friends at the club that I will always want the best for BRFC. I wish the fans, staff and players success now and forever!"

It has not yet been revealed whether the move is a permanent deal or loan until the summer when Roberts contract expires.

Meanwhile, Sutter, 25, has left Young Boys' winter training camp in Spain to discuss the move to Blackburn.

Young Boys said in a statement that it would not block Sutter from fulfilling his dream to play in the Premier League.
