O'Neill ties up Bridge dealSunderland have completed a deadline-day swoop for Manchester City defender Wayne Bridge.
Martin O'Neill has boosted his back line with the signing of Wayne Bridge on loan for the rest of the season.
The 31-year-old left-back joins from Manchester City and is available for tomorrow's Barclays Premier League game against Norwich City.
Bridge, who has been capped 36 times by England, joined City in January 2009 and has made 59 appearances for the Etihad Stadium outfit.
Reacting to the signing, manager O'Neill told safc.com: "I'm hoping that with Wayne's undoubted experience and ability he can be a big help to the team until the end of the season.
"I'm very pleased to have him here and with the number of injuries we've sustained recently I'm sure he'll be a great help to us."
The defender has made more than 400 domestic appearances since beginning his career with hometown club Southampton.
Bridge made 173 appearances for the Saints before moving to Chelsea in summer 2003.
He picked up Premier League, FA Cup and Carling Cup winners' medals during five-and-a-half years at Stamford Bridge and also had a loan spell at Fulham prior to joining City.
Bridge also spent time on loan at West Ham United last season, making 18 appearances.
