Sergio Ramos signs on until 2020



Los Blancos have struck a deal with the international defender, which will be officially announced before the new La Liga season gets underway on 23rd August.
The deal puts an end to a contentious issue that saw the relationship between club and player sour somewhat at the end of last season.
The two parties appeared to be going their separate ways, but the defender held face-to-face meetings, firstly with Jose Angel Sanchez and then with Florentino Perez whilst on tour in China, and these brought their positions closer together until they met the player's demands.
Ramos, whose previous deal ran until 2017, now looks set to end his career at the Bernabeu, just like he wanted.
On top of that he has landed a bit of a pay rise, pushing his wages up to around ?9m per season - after tax - plus add-ons.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid have secured the services of the man who played a huge part in winning 'La Decima', the man called upon to wear the captain's armband following Iker Casillas's move to Porto.

NEW DEAL FOR RAMOS

Sergio Ramos and Real Madrid have reached an agreement regarding the extension of the defender’s contract, reports AS.

Ramos’s contractual situation and future has dominated the agenda in both Spain and England over the past two months.

At one point it looked as though the defender’s 10-year association with Madrid was in its final days – the player himself had reportedly asked the club to let him leave, with Manchester United seriously interested in signing him.

However, the Spain centre back’s situation at the club appeared to turn toward a resolution after showdown talks with president Florentino Perez during Real's tour of China.

Now, according to AS, Ramos and Real have virtually agreed a contract extension. The two parties only have to finalise the last few legal details before the renewal will be made official.

In addition, AS says there will be an event to announce Ramos’s new deal at the Santiago Bernabeu on Monday.

RAMOS COMMITS TO MADRID

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has ended speculation surrounding his future by signing a new five-year deal at the Bernabeu.

Ramos had been courted by Manchester United during a standoff in negotiations between his representatives and Madrid president Florentino Perez over the salary with his previous deal set to expire in 2017.

However, the club said in a statement he will remain "tied to the club for the next five seasons."

The ceremony for the renewal of Ramos' contract will be held today at 12:30pm.
