QPR: Charlie Austin and Leroy Fer 'will probably leave'



QPR striker Charlie Austin and midfielder Leroy Fer are likely to leave the club in the summer transfer window, according to boss Chris Ramsey.
The pair sat out QPR's pre-season friendly against Atalanta on Sunday.
Both have been heavily linked with moves away  from Loftus Road following QPR's relegation to the Championship.
"People are very interested. We know it's a financial situation where the players, given the right offer, will probably go," he told BBC London 94.9.
However, Ramsey would like the club - who have five Championship fixtures and a League Cup tie before the transfer window closes on 1 September - to hold on to the pair for as long as possible, so they can play a part in their early-season fixtures.
"Selfishly, I hope nobody comes in for them," added Ramsey.
"Whoever's in the building and can help needs to be on hand. What is happening is that the players are training very hard to get fit for the beginning of the season and if they're fit they'll feature."
Austin, 24, signed a three-year deal when he joined QPR from Burnley in 2013 and scored 18 goals last season in the Premier League, earning a call-up to the England squad.
Holland midfielder Fer, 25, joined for £8m from Norwich at the start of last term, during which he scored six goals for the club.
Ramsey confirmed that any additions to his squad would depend on Fer and Austin leaving.
"I've probably got three-quarters of the squad I want but we do need some more players," he said.
"We need maybe three or four defenders but I imagine a few managers in the league are saying the same thing."

More QPR news and striker Charlie Austin is still widely expected to leave the club this summer - but only for the right price.

QPR rejected a bid from Leicester for him last month. There's been interest too from Crystal Palace and West Ham.

Newcastle have also been heavily linked all summer but so far no move has materialsed.

Charile Austin and Queens Park Rangers begin new contract talks

Queens Park Rangers have opened talks with Charlie Austin about a new contract, according to Sky sources.

It is understood that if the 26-year-old England international does not move to a Premier League in this window then the club will push ahead with offering a new deal.

Austin has been reported by English newspapers as being the subject of interest from Newcastle, West Ham and Tottenham over the course of the summer.

Sky sources understand that Austin will not leave Loftus Road unless a prospective buyer meets his £15m valuation and Leicester are so far the only club that have tested Rangers’ resolve with a £12m offer.

In July, Rangers’ director of football Les Ferdinand admitted a new deal for Austin, which they hope would protect the club from losing the player for a knockdown price in January, is "something that we’re considering".

Ferdinand said: "Then we’d have put the ball back in Charlie’s court in terms of what he wants to do. We all understand the situation - we’re not naive.

"After what he did last season, whether you have a two, three or four-year contract, if you score 18 goals in the Premier League there are people looking for British-based players."

Austin signed for Rangers from Burnley in August 2013 after scoring 45 goals in 90 appearances for the Clarets.

He was instrumental when QPR won promotion to the Premier League in 2013-14, and has scored 38 goals for the club in all competitions.

Charlie Austin: Queens Park Rangers firm on £15m valuation

Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin will remain at Loftus Road until the club's £15m valuation is met, says director of football Les Ferdinand.
Austin, 26, scored 18 goals as the west London club were relegated from the Premier League last season.
"If someone meets the valuation, it is down to Charlie to whether he wants to leave the club," Ferdinand said.
"When you look at what Christian Benteke went for, I don't think we're pricing him out the market."
Belgium international Benteke joined Liverpool for £32.5m from Aston Villa this summer and Ferdinand argues their asking price for Austin is "just a true valuation".
Ex-England striker Ferdinand says the Championship side have only received "two firm bids" for former Swindon and Burnley forward Austin this summer.
"I wouldn't say they've been turned down - we spoke to the clubs but they have not met our valuation," Ferdinand told BBC London 94.9.
The R's rejected a £12m bid from Leicester City last month, while West Ham are now reported to be interested in the player.
Austin is out of contract at QPR at the end of the season but Ferdinand remains hopeful of keeping him at the club.
"It is not a foregone conclusion that he will go," he added. "The rumours won't stop until the transfer window closes."
