West Ham have announced the signing of Sunderland defender George McCartney on a season-long loan.
McCartney, 30, left Sunderland for West Ham in 2006, spending two years at Upton Park, before re-signing at the Stadium of Light. The left-back, who spent part of last campaign on loan at Leeds, has now returned to West Ham, becoming manager Sam Allardyce's sixth summer signing.
He told the club's official website: "It's brilliant to be coming back. For me personally it will be great to be playing again for a club like West Ham. It is a big opportunity for me and I can't wait to get started again. I am looking forward to being part of the manager's squad and the club's push for promotion."
